Paul “Chad” Smith Receives 2022 Outstanding Industry Educator Award from the Explore the New Manufacturing Program

The Explore the New Manufacturing Program announced today that Paul “Chad” Smith has been recognized with an Outstanding Industry Educator award for his dedication in the classroom.  Smith is a teacher at Randolph Technical Center, where he teaches industrial maintenance classes.  Smith will receive a $500 award designated for classroom enhancement.  He will also be presented with a commemorative wooden plaque and gift basket featuring products made in West Virginia.  Proctor & Gamble Company, a Gold Patron, along with Technimark, a Bronze Patron, are sponsors of the 2022 awards.

What’s So Cool About Manufacturing? Student Video Contest 

WHEELING, March 30, 2022 – Explore the New Manufacturing is pleased to release the Oak Glen Middle School’s video submission in the Northern Region What’s So Cool About Manufacturing? Student Video Contest.  The Oak Glen video showcases Pietro Fiorentini, an Italian company, located in Glen Dale, West Virginia.

Explore the New Manufacturing Announces Winners for the West Virginia Northern Region What’s So Cool About Manufacturing? Student Video Contest

WHEELING, April 4, 2022 – Explore the New Manufacturing is pleased to announce the winners of the northern region completion of the What’s So Cool About Manufacturing? Student Video Contest.  Middle school teams were judged on the creation of a 3-minute video about their manufacturing partner, the employees, and what was cool about the company.

Wheeling Park students' creation to be used locally

A group of Wheeling Park High School students have created a tool that's going into use at a local factory.

Machine tool technology students participated in the West Virginia Manufacturing Education Fund's innovation challenge, and they completed the challenge by creating a "grapple" tool.

WPHS students design project for Wheeling-Nippon Steel

WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF)- Wheeling Park High School and Wheeling Nippon Steel are partnering up to teach students. Machine tool tech students were challenged by the steel company.
 
Students were asked to build a grapple for Nippon Steel and the challenge was accepted and conquered.
 
The Wheeling-Nippon GM says the students nailed the prototype and now they’ll design the real thing with aluminum.
