Wheeling, West Virginia, March 4, 2024 – Explore the New Manufacturing is pleased to announce the winners of the Explore Student Video Contest northern region. Middle school teams were judged on the creation of a 3-minute video about their manufacturing partner, the employees, and cool aspects of the company.
The FIRST PLACE recipient of the Best Manufacturing Message Award is Moundsville Middle School for their video about Tecnocap, LLC. Moundsville's winning video showcases Tecnocap, LLC metal closures and how they help make food products safe.
Team members include Olivia Wyatt, Nathan Hughes, Leo Nguyen, Kaylee Seese, Kaydyn McGilton, Jordan Richards, Faith Clutter, Kingsley Zheng, Apollo Miller, Emily McBee, Emilyn Richards, Ava Coulter, Coltin Myers, and Christian Dalton.

The SECOND PLACE recipient of the Best Manufacturing Message Award is Bridge Street Middle School for their video about East Coast Metal Systems. Bridge Street’s winning video explores how East Coast Metal Systems creates metal for architectural structures and roofs that withstand the test of time.
Team members include Andrew Conley, Sam Lewis, Dominic Scarnecchia, Addisyn Blake, Keegan Blake, Aidan Dorman, Connor Skariot, and Malia Shia.

East Coast Metal support team: John Trifonoff, Aaron Apitzsch, Barry Carpenter, Jenna Cooper, Kyle Sowinski, Payten Gibson, and Bill Lewis.
The Viewer's Choice Award was presented to Moundsville Middle School for their video about Tecnocap, LLC. The team set a new school record for the number of votes for their video. The voting was open to students, parents, educators, and community members.

Participating middle schools included Bridge Street Middle School, Booke Middle School, Hancock County Alternative Learning Center, Moundsville Middle School, and Sherrard Middle School.
Participating manufacturers included East Coast Metal Systems, Eagle Manufacturing Company, Fiesta Tableware Company, Pietro Fiorentini USA, and Tecnocap, LLC.
The Explore Student Video Contest is a favorite of students, teachers, and manufacturers,” said Executive Director Monica Cross. “This year’s competitors stepped up to produce some great videos. The regional contests are a vital component of our initiative of creating awareness about the types of job opportunities modern day manufacturing offers.” Explore the New Manufacturing creates student awareness and excitement about careers in manufacturing and the training opportunities for these positions in their local areas.
The Explore Student Video Contest provides a first-hand glimpse into modern manufacturing for sixth, seventh and eighth-grade students. Each participating school is provided with a video camera and kit by Explore the New Manufacturing. The program is funded by the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation, as well as company and individual contributions.
