Weirton Madonna Jr. High and Tecnocap, LLC Team Up for the Explore Student Video Contest

Explore the New Manufacturing is pleased to release Weirton Madonna Jr. High School’s video submission in the Northern region of the Explore Student Video Contest.  The video showcases all the cool things that happen at Tecnocap’s Glen Dale manufacturing facility.

The students are competing for three regional awards: Outstanding Creativity, Best Manufacturing Message, and the Viewer's Choice.  Visit https://www.exploremfgwv.com/2023-northern-region-video-contest to view the Weirton Madonna Jr. High School video and cast your vote in the Viewer’s Choice Contest.  Voting closes on March 26th at midnight.

Explore the New Manufacturing Announces Winners for the Explore Student Video Contest North Central Region

Explore the New Manufacturing is pleased to announce the winners of the Explore Student Video Contest North Central region. Middle school teams were judged on the creation of a 3-minute video about their manufacturing partner, the employees, and cool aspects of the company.

Zachary Cottrill Receives 2023 Emerging Elite in Manufacturing Award from the Explore the New Manufacturing Program

The Explore the New Manufacturing program announced today that Zachary Cottrill has been recognized with an Emerging Elite in Manufacturing award.  A sophomore, Zachary attends Lincoln High School and United Technical Center, where he concentrates on his studies in Machine Tool Technology. Zachary will receive a $500 award designated for scholarships, certification fees, or specialty equipment. He will also be presented with a commemorative wooden plaque and gift basket featuring products made in West Virginia. 

“Mr. Cottrill has shown himself to be a highly motivated student and maintains a high standard for himself and those around him,” stated Doug Sands, an instructor at United Technical Center. “As a first-year student, Zachary has completed the NIMS Mill Level 1 project, which is impressive.”

Paisley Tabor Receives 2023 Emerging Elite in Manufacturing Award from the Explore the New Manufacturing Program

paiselyThe Explore the New Manufacturing program announced today that Paisley Tabor has been recognized with an Emerging Elite in Manufacturing award. A Hurricane High School junior, Paisley is a dedicated student who is not afraid to take on academic challenges. Paisley will receive a $500 award designated for scholarships, certification fees, or specialty equipment. She will also be presented with a commemorative wooden plaque and gift basket featuring products made in West Virginia. 

“Paisley is a vocal champion for increased female participation in STEM courses at her school,” stated George Gannon, Corporate Communications Analyst at Toyota Motors Manufacturing West Virginia, Inc. “She cares deeply about education and has worked tirelessly to get more resources into classrooms not just at HHS, but to schools across Putnam County.”

Kai Smith Receives 2023 Emerging Elite in Manufacturing Award from the Explore the New Manufacturing Program

kaiThe Explore the New Manufacturing program announced today that Kai Smith has been recognized with an Emerging Elite in Manufacturing award.  A senior, Kai attends Oak Hill High School and Fayette Institute of Technology, where he concentrates on his studies in pre-engineering and machine tool technology courses.  Kai will receive a $500 award designated for scholarships, certification fees, or specialty equipment. He will also be presented with a commemorative wooden plaque and gift basket featuring products made in West Virginia. 

“Kai is an astounding engineer in the making. He is a very attentive and hardworking student who plays a vital role in our simulated workplace as the project manager, which is the lead advisor on all class projects,” stated Scott McDaniel, an instructor at Fayette Institute of Technology. “Kai demonstrates superior problem-solving skills which helps him excel in classwork and projects within this program.”
