HUNTINGTON — A new manufacturing program brought dozens of eighth-grade students from Cabell and Putnam counties to the Robert C. Byrd Institute for Technology (RCBI) in downtown Huntington on Friday morning.
SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WOWK) – Students from Kanawha and Putnam County schools are exploring career options in the manufacturing industry.
The West Virginia Manufacturing Association Educational Fund (WVMAEF) based in Charleston travels across the state connecting junior high students with local manufacturing businesses.
The day-long event includes presentations and hands-on activities like robotic tic tac toe and constructing paper airplanes.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. (WDVM) — The West Virginia Manufacturers Association Educational Fund offers a hands on learning program at Blue Ridge Community and Technical College Tech Center to middle schoolers in the eastern panhandle.
Over 100 eighth graders participated in classes to learn about manufacturer careers and do hands on labs.
Monica Cross, the director of WVMAEF, said the two year program planted a positive mindset about pursuing future manufacturing careers.
Bethany College hosted several area middle school teachers from West Virginia’s Northern Panhandle on campus as they prepare to guide their students through the “What’s So Cool About Manufacturing?” video contest.
