Explore the New Manufacturing is pleased to release Midland Trail Middle School’s video submission in the Kanawha Valley region of the Explore Student Video Contest. The video showcases what happens inside Niterra North America, Inc. manufacturing facility located in Sissonville, West Virginia.
The students are competing for three regional awards: Outstanding Creativity, Best Manufacturing Message, and the Viewer's Choice. Voting closes on April 16th at midnight.
The Midland Trail Middle School team: Whitney Bibb, Ava Campbell, Hunter Carter, Isaiah Harper, Brody Jones, Harlie Nuckols, Riley Petitt, Chloe Queen, Madi Rader, and Jaci Stonestreet.
“The Explore Student Video Contest allows for student empowerment where they work with industry partners and produce a product that allows for creativity and student ownership,” commented Kenndy Moore, the team’s faculty adviser. “The students utilize real world skills and participate in career exploration, which benefits their future!”
Nicholette Inman, Niterra’s Sr. Learning & Development Specialist, stated “the Explore Student Video Contest is one of my favorite projects to be a part of each year. Each year I learn something new, exciting, and COOL about the manufacturing industry from the middle school students who participate.” In addition to Inman, Niterra’s support team included Rodney Moss- Sensor Production Supervisor, Ben Ratliff- Plugs Production Supervisor, James Ramos- Warehouse Manager, and Richard Young- Quality Analyst.
“Today’s middle school students will be tomorrow’s workforce in manufacturing in West Virginia,” said Program Director Monica Cross, who oversees the Explore the New Manufacturing program on behalf of the West Virginia Manufacturers Association Educational Fund’s efforts to create student awareness and excitement about careers in manufacturing and the training opportunities for these positions in their local areas. “We are excited to share Midland Trail Middle School’s video with you. The team did an excellent job, and their results illustrate the use of creativity, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork.”
