Eastern West Virginia What’s So Cool About Manufacturing? Student Video Contest Virtual Awards Ceremony

Martinsburg, WV – Explore: The New Manufacturing will hold a virtual awards ceremony for the Eastern West Virginia student video contest, What’s So Cool About Manufacturing? on Tuesday, April 16th, at 6:30pm. The ceremony will be available on the Explore YouTube Channel: https://youtu.be/CDw6zMe36qw

“In this age of social distancing, the Explore team is busy developing a virtual ceremony to honor the hard work and creativity that our participants have put into to creating a group of amazing videos, “ said Program Director Monica Cross, who oversees the fund’s Explore the New Manufacturing Program that links industry with educators and students across West Virginia. “Students, 7th and 8th graders, produced mini documentaries on a local manufacturer to compete for three awards: Most Creative, Best Manufacturing Message, Viewer’s Choice.”

Participating schools are Charles Town Middle School, Hedgesville Middle School, Musselman Middle School, Martinsburg North Middle School, Spring Mills Middle School, and Martinsburg South Middle School. Local manufacturers include AMS Vendors, Technimark, Procter & Gamble, Argos, Quad Graphics, and BioHiTech Global. The contest has been sponsored by Chevron and the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation. Educational partner, BlueRidge Community College provided video training for the teachers. Video cameras were provided by the Explore the New Manufacturing, a nonprofit organization that links education and industry through interactive programs. The program is funded by the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation and Chevron, as well as company and individual contributions.
