“My focus in CTE is Simulated Workplace which turns classrooms into companies where students learn real-world skills, such as partnering with businesses. Through these partnerships, I have given my students experience in planning projects, estimating material lists, costs, and delivering finished products to the customer. The experience has helped the students learn, not only the trade but the business aspect as well.”

“I have taught with Mark for the previous six school years. During our time together, I have seen his commitment to both his students and the construction industry. His goal is to give his students the best experience possible while teaching them to excel at the trade and show them more than just the technical aspect. He is committed to also teaching the business and customer service side of the industry.”

“This year my program adopted an online learning management system to cover the "content" or book work for the course. Having this online system then allowed us to devote our face-to-face time to completing the hands-on, project-based learning content. We have also used digital platforms to hold educational and student-led meetings.”

“As a general contractor with over two decades of experience, Mark possesses both expert knowledge of the trade as well as invaluable local contacts. His enthusiasm for excellent craftsmanship breathed new life into a struggling program, and his connections within the community spring boarded incredible opportunities for his students. After the floods that devastated our communities in 2016, Mark’s building and construction program built a tiny home that was donated to a local family."
